Getting this business off the ground was nothing if not a labor of love on the part of several individuals for many months now. We noticed that too often people seeking support in completing legal documents received subpar service from online document services, leading them to need more specialized, localized assistance. That’s when the idea was born: a legal document preparation service right around the corner with a team you can actually meet. In today’s day and age of impersonal online forms, perhaps it was a radical idea, but we think personal legal document assistants are just what our friends and neighbors in the Inland Empire need. Now that we’re here, though, you may be wondering what we do.
We Are Not a Law Firm
When one sees “legal”, one typically thinks “attorneys”, right? This is not always the case, however. ProSe Legal is a legal document preparation company, not a law firm. That means we’re staffed only by legal document assistants (or paralegals). Because our legal document assistants are not attorneys, we are unable to provide legal advice to clients. What Are Legal Document Assistants? (And What About Paralegals?)
Legal Document Assistants (or LDAs) are legal professionals who have undergone extensive education and training to understand the ins and outs of legal documents of all kinds. In short, LDAs are paperwork pros. Our job is to help clients complete their sometimes-confusing legal paperwork – whether you need help writing a will or need to file a divorce petition with the courts. Paralegals also provide the same services, but they specifically assist law firms and attorneys. LDAs are here for the public.
